Highlights Round 7

Here are the highlights from Round 7 of the Mitropa Cup, analyzed by GM Felix Blohberger.

France and Italy continue to dominate at the Mitropa Cup, with both teams winning again in round seven. France reclaimed the lead thanks to a convincing 3.5–0.5 victory over Croatia. Italy follows closely behind after a 2.5–1.5 win against Hungary but trails on tiebreak points. Switzerland consolidated third place with a 2.5–1.5 success against Slovenia, though already sitting three points behind the leading duo.

In the women’s event, Ukraine eliminated its last remaining challenger with an emphatic 3.5–0.5 victory over Italy in the direct encounter. With two rounds remaining, Ukraine now leads Switzerland and Italy by three points.
